In this contribution there will be presented theoretical framework, methodology and results related to the linguistic, comparative and translation analysis of metaphors detected in the first two chapters of the ltalian novel Venuto al mondo by Margaret Mazzantini and in its German and Spanish translations. Besides the complexity of the figurative language, there have been observed a high concentration of conventional metaphoric expressions based on polysemies in the three texts, a notable amount of metaphorical uses that potentially exist in the three languages, ,, halfway portion of different uses, a minor one of metaphors exclusively shared between Italian and Spanish and scarce uses equivalent only in ltalian and German, and finally the possibility that interlinguistic symmetries are not preserved in the translated texts.
