  • Resumen
    • Simulation is a methodology used for several years, especially in Health Sciences studies. It is a tool that promotes learning and allows students to assess their skills with situations that simulate a real clinical scenario. Students acquire declarative and procedural knowledge. However, in the Degree in Speech Therapy, there is not much research on the application and benefit of simulation for the learning of future speech therapists. Goal: Describe the application of simulation and its benefit for learning in an activity done with students of the Degree in Speech Therapy. Method: 39 students of the Degree in Speech Therapy done an activity on a simulated case. They have to analyze its characteristics, develop an intervention approach and plan an intervention session. They are given aids (report, examples, template). Results: 48.7% of the students have obtained a score between 0.9 and 1 point and none of the students has obtained a score lower than 0.35. The main difficulties refer to the coherence of objectives and characteristics, to their formulation and to the elaboration of the intervention tasks. Conclusions: Most of the students have achieved significant learning with the simulation, reaching the proposed objectives. Therefore, the methodology used through simulation is beneficial for future speech therapists to acquire the necessary skills and enable them to practice their profession.
