The Supervised Curricular Internship in undergraduate courses has been characterized as an important space of approximation with the reality of the classroom, future locus of professional insertion, of the undergraduates. In this study, we sought to investigate the contributions and challenges of the Supervised Curricular Internship in the initial training of African undergraduates in the degree course in Letters of the University of the International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusophony – UNILAB, located in Redenção, Ceará, Brazil. This research was based on a qualitative approach, used the interpretative method and had as participants 06 (six) foreign students of the course of Letters of UNILAB. The methodology for data assessment and analysis was implemented through interviews that were applied remotely through the Google meet platform, following the safety standards guided by the World Health Organization – WHO during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results indicated several challenges: such as cultural and linguistic differences, insecurity when assuming a classroom at the beginning of a formation, management of class time and maintaining control over the class, it was perceived that the contributions were of great relevance for the future teacher and that the supervised internship should be supplied by research, incorporated into the teaching-research-extension triad, allowing the trainee direct contact with the field of professional activity, thus providing the opportunity to see, in practice, the theory that was studied at the university, always taking care to make the necessary adjustments to the context of action, in the case of the participants of this research, the partner countries of UNILAB.
