The objective of the study is to identify and classify metacognitive events of high school students, during the performance of a set of didactic activities in the Physics discipline in a state public school in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The classification of events takes as reference the understanding of metacognition associated with the study the Rosa (2011) and through the transcription of the fakes of four students during six teaching episodes, initially identifies the presence of metacognitive events and, subsequently, proceeds with their classification. As a result, the study points to the presence of these elements during teaching activities and points out that those linked to the executive and self-regulatory control component are the most frequent. However, the study highlights the importance of awareness as an element that allows knowledge to be evaluated and highlights that the evaluation process, the last metacognitive element, is what allows us to reflect on the way in which executive action occurs. The study findings also show that it is not always possible to fit the students' manifestation into a specific metacognitive element, emphasizing that these elements mix and alternate so that one element can be contemplated together with another, bringing the perspective that it is It is necessary to analyze all of the students’ actions and check whether these elements were present at any time. Finally, the study points to new research possibilities based on the data analyzed. Finally, the study points to new research possibilities based on the data analyzed.
