In today’s society, attention to diversity is a fundamental pillar for the construction of inclusive educational environments that meet the needs and potential of all students. In a world that increasingly values creativity and the ability to adapt, it is essential to understand how these qualities can be fostered from primary education, especially among students with high intellectual abilities. At the same time, creativity is a key skill that must be considered in education due to its adaptive nature, which allows students to face the challenges of a constantly changing and increasingly more complex society. This thesis explores the relationship between giftedness and creativity in the context of inclusive education, with the aim to design pedagogical strategies that support the holistic development of highly gifted and talented students. The study, which follows a quantitative and cross-sectional approach, involved 160 students between the ages of 6 and 12 with indicators of high intellectual ability, regardless of whether they had a formal diagnosis, and, is based on the observations of 125 education professionals. Data was collected using the Teacher Observation Scale for Giftedness (EOSP) by Martínez-Otero et al. (2020) and the Creativity Observation Scale (EOC), the latter being specifically developed to evaluate creativity in educational contexts. Both scales were validated, with the EOC standing out as an innovative tool for measuring three types of creativity (visual-motor, linguistic, and applied), based on indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. After data collection, descriptive and inferential analyses were performed to compare means and identify significant differences between variables, followed by a correlational analysis to explore relationships. Results confirmed the study’s hypotheses and revealed a significant correlation between giftedness and creativity, supporting the main hypothesis. No differences were found in the identification of giftedness between students with and without a formal diagnosis, neither by gender; however, indicators of giftedness were more visible among males, especially in the upper grades, resulting in a higher frequency of diagnoses than among females. With regards to creativity, some variations were observed in the types of creativity and in the indicators by gender, although these differences were not statistically significant. The conclusions indicate that the research objectives were achieved, thus allowing for reflection on the limitations identified: primarily, those concerning sample size, and the possibility of optimizing the scale designs to achieve improved accuracy. Future lines of research to expand on these findings are proposed, including an exploration of the impact of environmental factors on creative development and students’ abilities, analysing the convergent validity with similar scales, as well as, the execution of longitudinal and cross-cultural studies. From a pedagogical perspective, this thesis highlights the importance of an educational approach centered on holistic development, promoting both intellectual growth and creativity. As a significant contribution, a new scale has been designed to facilitate the identification of creativity in students, thus offering educators a valuable tool with which to encourage and assess these abilities in school settings.
