The intersection between translation and memory has become an essential discipline for understanding, remembering and giving voice to those who were silenced during situations of conflict and post-conflict, dictatorship and exile, and genocide. Memory in translation, in turn, becomes even more sensitive as it carries that memory into other cultures, and sometimes also across different periods in time. Considerations of the role of the translator become essential in exploring translation and the cross-cultural transmission of memory. This will lead us to analyse how the translator deals with these literatures of resistance and the impact on the transcultural transmission of memory that fosters historical and social justice.
