    • The author justifies how important it is in the language learning process to elucidate a multiple cognitive effort by encouraging the students to watch a subtitled audiovisual production, as they will listen to the original dialogue, read the translated subtitles and assimilate as well the information supplied by the image. The redundancy of the codified message by different means will be a great advantage for students of foreign languages who watch the programme either at home or in the language laboratory, and this benefit will be greatly increased with monitored sessions in which their teacher can demand tasks that will focus their perception on specific issues.
