The pedagogical use of collective memory circumscribed to a specific urban setting is an opportunity to narrate recent history from the present time. Above all, the testimonies of those who are the protagonists of a series of events that, due to circumstances, have not been duly acknowledged or included in the official versions, acquire notoriety in this narrative. The crossover between the testimonial account and the historical progression through the so-called spaces of memory conceptualised by Pierre Nora (-Paris, 1931) converges in an exercise of recognition in which there is room for both otherness and the contrast between different groups, mentalities and concerns. This research analysis, within this methodological framework, the design of a teaching project focused on the study of the urban environment of Malaga (Spain) during the 20th century. The target group is students in the final year of the Bachillerato, the final stage of post-compulsory studies and preparatory for university entrance; a group that, under the guidance of their teachers, has managed to immerse themselves in the history of their city through different locations in a novel experience. The result has been the creation of a didactic guide that transcends the physical limits of the classroom to put itself at the service of society, in a reflective and analytical exercise available to anyone interested.
