  • Resumen
    • This work shows the design of a card game based on the components of a nuclear power plant as a gamification strategy to enhance students’ attitude and learning in the subject of Nuclear energy. The gamification approach is chosen for its ability to generate interaction, establish some connections between concepts, and provide a playful learning environment. The use of a physical cardboard has been selected to encourage social interaction as a key point and complement the theoretical part of the class.

The main design, the dynamics, mechanics, components, and the player profile have been defined, while considering the theory of flow in gamification and addressing its implementation. The proposed gamification features a mechanic that combines competition and collaboration, with an element of chance that brings variety to each game session. The implementation in the classroom aims to create a conducive environment and use this tool to strengthen students’ understanding of the subject-related concepts, leveraging a different learning environment from traditional lectures.

Finally, the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis tool is introduced to evaluate both the design and the implementation of the activity with respect to those potential factors that may hinder the achievement of the defined objectives.
