This research explores the instructional texts of COVID-19 from Chilean ministerial sources in terms of their discursive features and their understanding, also considering the perceptions of health professionals. Based on the contributions of Tadros (1985, 1994, 2002), and a survey applied to 28 experts, the texts are qualitatively analyzed in order to obtain information that facilitates the reading comprehension of Chilean adults and enhances the literacy process in health. The study concludes that there are discursive aspects that predominate in the organization of texts and in the linguistic prediction of this, such as the question and answer structure, the clarification of language and technical concepts, and the personalization of the information provided. In this way, some guidance is provided from the analysis of the discourse to improve the exhibition material from official sources within the context of a pandemic.
