Del cuerpo digital al cuerpo posthumano. La imagen corporal en la era digital, en la generación virtual y en el concepto posthumano

    Somos conscientes de los cambios que ha experimentado la imagen corporal desde el comienzo de la era digital, pasando por la generación virtual, hasta llegar al concepto del cuerpo posthumano. El objetivo es reflexionar sobre cómo la evolución en la percepción del cuerpo se relaciona con el cambio de mentalidad que las nuevas tecnologías están produciendo en el individuo y en la sociedad. Desde una selección bibliográfica y desde una experiencia propia, se valora cómo percibimos nuestro cuerpo desde los ámbitos físico, social y cultural, también cómo se manipula la imagen corporal de manera tecnológica ocasionando en el individuo un temperamento egocéntrico y lúdico. Como resultado, al aceptar la ficción de nuestro cuerpo, permitimos que nuestra identidad se diluya. Bauman habla de la “sociedad líquida” en la que vive el individuo actual inmerso en un proceso de transformación constante. En conclusión, el desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías seguirá moldeando la imagen de nuestro cuerpo y la mentalidad de nuestras sociedades futuras, siempre que el individuo siga sintiendo atracción por estos avances. Parece inevitable que el concepto posthumano termine siendo radicalizado por movimientos que amparan el traspaso de los límites biológicos del cuerpo.

    We are aware of the changes that the body image has undergone since the beginning of the digital era, passing through the virtual generation, up to reaching the concept of the posthuman body. The objective is to think about how the evolution in the perception of the body is related to the change of mentality that the new technologies are producing in the individual and in society. From a bibliographic selection and my own experience, it is valued how we perceive our body from the physical, social and cultural aspects, and as well as how it is manipulated in a technological way causing in the individual an egocentric and playful temperament. As a result, by accepting the fiction of our body, we allow our identity to be diluted. Bauman talks about “the liquid society” in which the current individual lives immersed in a process of constant transformation. In conclusion, the development of new technologies will continue shaping the image of our body and the mentality of our future societies, as long as the individual continues feeling attraction for these advances. It seems inevitable that the posthuman concept ends up being radicalized by movements that support the transfer of the biological limits of the body.
