Resumen de Análisis de las creencias previas del alumnado de Magisterio hacia la Educación Plástica, Visual y Audiovisual

María del Pilar Aparicio Flores, Rosa Pilar Esteve Faubel

  • Despite comprehensive legislative and curricular provisions for art education in compulsory education, this is not generally reflected in the socio-educational context because it is often considered as being of little educational value. The aim of this study was to identify future teachers’ beliefs on this question and determine whether they concurred with the above statement or not. To this end, a qualitative exploratory and descriptive study was conducted, analysing the narratives obtained from 11 focus groups. Participants consisted of 112 students taking an infant and primary education degree, the University of Alicante. The results showed that prior conceptions and/or perceptions exerted a considerable influence on attitudes towards teaching in this field of knowledge, especially as regards artistic expression, the focus of the present research and an area where teachers play a major role. The observed findings are discussed and some reflections are estimated for the improvement of the artistic area.
