El artículo propone un análisis de las notas del traductor que aparecen en la versión española que Mario Merlino realizó en 1989 de la obra de Gianni Rodari Il libro degli errori (1964). El objetivo principal es describir el contenido y la función de las notas en esta obra de literatura infantil, por lo tanto, se tratará de establecer cuándo y por qué Merlino toma la palabra para dirigirse a sus lectores y determinar su posible eficacia dentro del texto y su utilidad para el destinatario de la traducción.

The present article proposes an analysis of the translator’s notes that appear in the Spanish version of the work of Gianni Rodari Il libro degli errori (1964) that Mario Merlino published in 1989. The aim will be to describe the content and function of the footnotes inserted by the translator in this work of children’s literature, therefore to establish when and why Merlino takes the floor to address his readers and determine its possible effectiveness within the text and its usefulness to the addressee of the translation.
