  • Resumen
    • The aim of this work was to study the effect of the inclusion in the diet of linseed, rich in -linolenic acid (ALA), on the gene expression of lipogenic enzymes in subcutaneous (SC) and intramuscular (IM) adipose tissue in 3 groups of lambs: C(concentrate), L-5 (concentrate+5% of linseed) and L-10 (concentrate+10% of linseed). The expression of Acetil-CoA carboxylase (ACACA), Lipoprotein lipase (LPL), stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD), Fatty acid desaturase 1 (FADS1) and 2 (FADS2) and Fatty acid elongase 5 (ELOVL5) were quantified by real time RT-PCR. The inclusion of linseed caused a decrease in the ACACA and SCD gene expression (P<0.001) and LPL gene expression was higher in L-5 group than in the L-10 and C groups (P<0.001) in both depots. The results showed that the gene expression of some genes has a tissue-specific regulation when linseed is included in the diet: the expression of FADS1, FADS2 and ELOVL5 genes did not change in the SC tissue whereas in the IM tissue mRNA the quantity of some of these genes decreased probably due to the inhibitory effect of ALA.
