  • Within an educational innovation project, a strategy to promote the acquirement of the crosscurricular skill “Sustainable development and social responsibility” was developed in the degree ofDietetics and Human Nutrition of the University of the Basque Country. A preliminary questionnairewas proposed to assess the integration of the aforementioned competence. As first step of its validation, descriptive analyses of the questionnaire were presented. After identification of specific weaknesses, thequestionnaire was appropriately modified. The objective of the present work was to compare the metricproperties of the new questionnaire (NQ) and those of the previous version (PQ).Once the approval was received from the ethic’s committee of the University, the validationprocess was carried out with 100 and 67 students, for PQ and NQ, respectively. Through the statisticalprogram SPSS, description of each item that make up the construct, its structural validity, as well as thereliability of scores and temporal stability were analyzed. In the case of NQ, 92.5% of the students completed all the items, 6% left only one blank, and onecase was invalidated because it did not answer any question. In both questionnaires, the indicatorsused supported the adequacy of the correlation matrix for the application of factor analysis: Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index were 0.62 and 0.76 for PQ and NQ, respectively, while the Bartlett’s sphericity testobtained significant values in PQ and NQ. The rotated factor matrix of the questionnaire revealed thattwo factors explained more than 60% of the variability observed in both questionnaires. The first factorconsisted on items related to the interest and usefulness of the developed activity, and the secondone, to organizational or methodological aspects. The degree of intercorrelation between each factor’selements reached good mark in NQ (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.79). Retention test results (10 days time lapse)raised from low (PQ) to medium intensity (NQ).Even though PQ presented the minimum guarantees required by the international standards, the modifications applied in the NQ enhanced metric properties for validity, reliability and stabilityallowing proper achievement of “Sustainable development and social responsibility” skill.
