The supplementation of dry powder whey (6%, 6L0P), whey protein concentrate (WPC 8%, 0L8P) and control diet (0L0P) in starter diets for broilers were evaluated. 810 one day-old Ross 308 male broiler chicks were placed in pens with wood shaving as litter material. Body weight (BW), daily weight gain (DWG), feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and mortality rate (M) were determined on a weekly basis. The statistical analysis performed considering the interaction between experimental diet and experimental week considering pen as experimental unit. A significant interaction between experimental diet and experimental weeks for BW, DWG, FI and FCR was determined. Weekly, animals fed with 0L8P showed a higher BW, DWG and trend to improve FCR compared to control diet. Animals fed with 6L0P improved BW, DWG and FCR compared to0L0P. Finally, animals fed with 0L8P increased the BW, DWG and FI without affecting the FCR. In conclusion, broiler chickens fed a corn-soybean meal based diet at starter period with 6% of dry powder whey or 8% of WPC in diet improved the productive performance.
