The study aim was to evaluate the effect of concentrate form of presentation and concentrate feeder design on performance, carcass, and animal behaviour in Holstein bulls fed high-concentrate diets. A total of 294 bulls were randomly distributed to 4 treatments that followed a 2 x 2 factorial design: concentrate presentation form (meal or pellet) and feeder design (feeder with 3 feeding spaces and low concentrate capacity or a single space feeder with lateral protections). Concentrate intake was registered daily and BW every 14 days. Animal behaviour was registered at day -6, 1, 3, 6, 9, 13, 29, and every 28 days. At day 182, animals were slaughtered and carcass quality was registered. Effects of concentrate form of presentation and feeder design on performance differed depending on fattening phase (adaptation, growing, and finishing), and no relevant effects on behaviour were found. When overall fattening data are analysed (total concentrate per animal, kg of carcass, and concentrate efficiency), the best strategy to improve performance and save concentrate is to feed animals with pellet using a feeder with 3 feeding spaces, followed by pellet with a single feeder, meal with a single feeder, and, in last position, meal with a feeder with 3 feeding spaces.
