The aim of this study was to evaluate feeding system (grazing vs. hay indoors) and type of concentrate (with or without 7.5% of condensed tannins) during ewe lactation, on the milk production and fatty acids profile of milk and the meat of the suckling lamb. Thirtynine Churra Tensina ewe-lamb pairs were used from birth to 11-12 kg LW and around 35 days old. The inclusion of condensed tannins in the concentrate did not affect the milk production nor the FA profile (P>0.05). In contrast, the feeding system had an important effect on milk production and milk FA profile, as grazing ewes had greater milk production, with higher CLA content and lower AGPI n6:n3 in milk. The FA profile of the meat of the suckling lamb was similarly affected by the feeding system, with higher CLA content and lower AGPI n6:n3 of the grazing lambs than lambs from the hay-fed ewes and no effect of the addition of condensed tannins. In conclusion, the feeding system affected the production and composition of milk, besides of the profile of fatty acids of the milk and of the meat of the suckling lamb. In contrast, the addition of condensed tannins in the concentrate of the ewe did not have effects on milk production and FA profile.
