In a commercial farm 162 rabbits were distributed over 18 cages (3400 cm2/cage), with three densities: 10, 9 and 8 rabbits/cage. The animals were weighed at weaning (37 days), 54d and 71d. The diet was administered ad libitum, quantifying the consumption for two periods (P): P1: 37-54 d and P2: 54 -71 d of age. Data were analysed by ANOVA, to evaluate the effect of stock density on body weight (BW), average daily gain (ADG) and conversion index (CI), on P1 and P2 period. t Tuckey test was used to compare means, by IBM-SPSS (ver. 22). No significant differences in LW at 37, 54 and 71 d, and ADG on P1 and P2 periods between three densities were found. The overall ADG decreased from 43.9±2.32 kg to 35.8±3.30 kg, between P1 and P2. The charges were significant different in the three ages, with loads higher in cages with 9 and 10 rabbits. The stock density has not influenced the mortality with rates of 6.7%, 3.7% and 6.3% respectively for 10, 9 and 8 rabbits/cage. In CI there wasn´t effect of stock density. Is important to evaluate the productive performance at lower densities, respecting the recommendations of the EFSA
