Ciência e religião na sala de aula: um diálogo em favor da interculturalidade e em defesa do senso crítico

    Imerso no contexto de que os alunos trazem suas crenças e práticas culturais para o ambiente escolar, este artigo pretende oferecer alguns elementos que mostrem a importância do diálogo e a perspectiva intercultural como possíveis recursos ao se tratar de temas em sala de aula que podem gerar conflitos de ideias, principalmente quando se está em jogo as crenças religiosas do aluno. Entendendo o diálogo e a interculturalidade como métodos que permitem a resolução de conflitos e o respeito entre os diferentes grupos culturais e suas visões de mundo, foi possível ouvir as opiniões dos alunos sobre temas polêmicos, como, a teoria evolutiva darwiniana e a origem da vida biológica na Terra, sem que se registrassem conflitos. Porém, embora reconheçam o valor da explicação científica, a religião continua tendo lugar de destaque na vida de muitos destes alunos.

    Immersed in the context that students bring their beliefs and cultural practices to the school environment, this article intends to offer some elements that show the importance of dialogue and the intercultural perspective as possible resources when dealing with topics in the classroom that can generate conflicts of ideas, especially when the student's religious beliefs are at stake. Understanding dialogue and interculturality as methods that allow conflict resolution and respect between different cultural groups and their worldviews, it was possible to hear the students' opinions on controversial topics, such as darwinian evolutionarytheoryand the origin of biological life on Earth, without registering conflicts. However, while recognizing the value of scientific explanation, religion continues to take place prominently in the lives of many of these students.
