    The emergence of technology has brought to the pedagogical field the access to a wide range of toolsthat have allowed the paradigm shift in education. From a conservative scenario where the teacher wasunilaterally the transmitter of knowledge it has evolved into other ecosystems where synergistic co-creation of knowledge is possible in a multi-directional way, in different circumstances and with differentformats. The purpose of this paper is an analysis of the virtual docent role from a holistic view of theprocess that is designed and implemented when there is an opportunity of creating a teaching-learningprocess, structured in a digital platform or in a blended learning environment. Which functions shouldhe undertake? What are the areas that should attend? What is the profile of this professional? Along thispaper it will try to provide answers to these and other central issues within the e-learning.

    La irrupción de la tecnología conlleva en el ámbito pedagógico el acceso a una serie de herramientasque han permitido el cambio del paradigma educativo. Desde un escenario conservador en el que el docente era la transmisora de conocimiento de forma unilaterial se ha evolucionado hacia otros ecosistemas en los que la cocreación sinérgica de conocimiento es posible de forma multidireccional, en variadas circunstancias y con diversos formatos. El propósito de esta comunicación es realizar un análisis delrol del docente virtual desde una visión holística del proceso que diseña e implementa ante la oportunidad de crear una propuesta de enseñanza-aprendizaje estructurada en formato digital y/o blendedlearning. ¿Qué funciones debe acometer? ¿cuáles son las áreas que debe atender? ¿cuál es el perfil deeste profesional? A lo largo de la misma se tratará de dar respuesta a estas y otras cuestiones centralesdentro del aprendizaje e-learning.
