Resumen de Integrating technical and specific contents into the InGenio FCE Online Course & Tester

  Los contextos técnicos y no específicamente lingüísticos, como el de la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), fomentan que tanto profesores como lingüistas investiguen sobre nuevos modos y técnicas que ayuden a crear, promover e implementar sistemas capaces de hacer más dinámico y eficiente el proceso de aprendizaje de una segunda lengua. Los entornos online para el aprendizaje se muestran como un medio atractivo y útil de cara al fomento de la práctica y la evaluación de los conocimientos en una segunda lengua para aquellos alumnos que cursan estudios científicotécnicos y que, debido a ello, no pueden dedicar a su formación lingüística el volumen de horas deseable. InGenio es la plataforma utilizada en la creación y publicación de un curso y programa de evaluación de inglés nivel B2 (InGenio FCE Online Course & Tester). Dichos materiales han sido diseñados para proporcionar a los alumnos de la UPV una nueva herramienta que les permita alcanzar un nivel de lengua extranjera equivalente al B2 (MCERL, 2001), pero también con el objetivo de incluir secciones destinadas a la práctica conjunta del inglés y de contenidos específicos y técnicos. Del mismo modo, el presente artículo explora el papel de las áreas de conocimiento de Inglés para Fines Específicos (IFE) y del Aprendizaje Integrado de Contenidos y Lenguas Extranjeras (AICLE) dentro de los materiales mencionados.

  Technical and non-specifically linguistic learning contexts, such as the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), encourage language specialists to analyse and investigate new ways and techniques to help create, promote and implement systems that contribute towards making the language learning process more dynamic and efficient. Online learning environments are currently a very useful and attractive channel that can foster language practice, learning, and assessment among students focusing their studies on technical or sciencific disciplines and who cannot devote a large amount of time to learning a foreign language. InGenio is the online platform used to create and deliver an online B2 level (CEFRL, 2001) English course and tester (InGenio FCE Online Course & Tester). These are preparatory materials designed not only to provide the UPV students with a new tool that would enable them to achieve the required B2 level in a foreign language but also to include sections specifically devoted to specific and technical contents. This paper will therefore explore the role of the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approaches within these B2 materials and the ways in which they contribute towards making the language learning process more efficient and motivating for students.
