    No hace relativamente mucho tiempo, a1gunos estudiosos, comentando el contenido del primer tratado romano-púnico, para refutar la cronología polibiana, han argumentado que a la sazón Roma no alcanzaba —a nuestros ojos— el nivel cultural que requería la naturaleza de este acuerdo. Se trata, de suyo, de una valoración no bien fundamentada. Analizando en profundidad los elementos de este primer tratado y atendiendo a las circunstancias concomitantes y a los aspectos económicos que debieron rodear este convenio, se puede observar rápidamente que nada más lejos dc la realidad (histórica). Por más que la época arcaica en las riberas del “Mare Nostrum” no sea bien conocida para nosotros, sin embargo ello no debe hacernos suponer que hubiera un bajo nivel cultural, de realizaciones y de comunicaciones.

    No much time ago any scholars, commenting upon the elements of the first Roman-Punic treaty, in order to refute the Polybian chronology, have argued, that Rome —for our view— did not present at this time the standard, which the nature of this agreement requires. Nevertheless this opinion represents a not much established valuation. If the elements of this first accord may be deeply analized and the within accompanying circumstances and the economic aspects around that, we can rapidly observe, that this point of view is so far from (historic) facts. Although arcaic times in the Mediterranean are as soon as well unknovm for us, however this consideration not supposes, that then there was a low cultural level or one of accomplishment or of communications.
