  • Resumen
    • In recent years there has been a noticeable upsurge in the amount of research devotedto abstracts, particularly research article abstracts. In a survey published in 2005,Montesi and Urdiciain identified 28 studies of abstracts, and several more haveappeared since then. In consequence, the issue that now arises is how to turn thesediscourse-analytic findings into materials and activities that will benefit theinternational community of scholars and research students. In this chapter, werespond to this issue by illustrating and discussing certain of the tasks contained in Abstracts and the writing of abstracts (Swales and Feak, 2009).
