This paper, part of a series of linguistically-oriented studies designed to understandhow patients manage chronic health conditions such as diabetes, focuses on patients’ perspectives on available sources of information related to diabetes. The study seeksto ascertain the potential impact of various information sources on diseasemanagement. Twenty-one in-depth interviews were conducted with Type 2 diabeticsabout the sources and adequacy of information they received about their disease andabout their adherence to their prescribed medication regimen. This chapter examineswritten sources of information, which were rated by many non-adherent patients asamong their most useful information sources.
