    Este artículo presenta la obra en el nivel de educación superior fundando la primera universidad del Perú en el siglo XVI, con sede en el Convento de Nuestra Señora del Rosario en Lima y otra: la Universidad San Antonio Abad, en el siglo XVII, en el Cusco, a la par de su actividad misionera que la llevarán a cabo en lengua nativa y defendiendo al “indio” de los abusos de encomenderos y conquistadores. En el siglo XX fundaron una universidad privada, en Lima: San Martín de Porres en homenaje al santo en el año de su canonización.

    This article presents the work of the Dominican order in terms of college education. They contributed to it with the foundation of the first peruvian university in the sixteenth century located in the Convent of Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Lima, and the foundation of the University San Antonio Abad in the seventeenth century in Cusco. Furthermore, they collaborated with their missionary activity in the native language and their defense of the “indio” against the abuse by encomenderos and conquerors. In the twentieth century, they founded a private university and named it after the saint “San Martín de Porres” to tribute him on the year of his canonization.
