    Tras la experiencia americana y varios intentos fallidos por lograr un asentamiento permanente en Asia Oriental, los dominicos españoles lograron entrar desde Filipinas (1565) en Asia oriental: China, Japón, Vietnam, Taiwán y Corea y evangelizar estos territorios con la ayuda inestimable del aprendizaje de lenguas y el uso de la traducción.
