Hypertext, multimedia and interactivity are the main sources of digital journalism. The use of these three tools indicates the maturity in the production praxis in a digital mass media. We have developed an empirical analysis to determine the evolution of the use of the analysed resources in Catalonia and Spain. To this end we have analysed with statistics the home pages of two Catalan digital newspapers (La Vanguardia and El Periódico de Catalunya) and two Spanish digital newspapers (El País and El Mundo) that include paper products. We find a statistical correlation between deep hypertext and interactivity (links deeper, more number of comments), which rewards the quality of link insertion.
