El perfil sanitario de la población infantil de principios del siglo XX estuvo caracterizado por altas cifras de natalidad y de mortalidad. En este contexto, la alimentación infantil se convirtió en uno de los objetivos prioritarios de la acción sanitaria. La institución familiar, con la mujer-madre como punto de referencia, constituyó el escenario ideal de las labores de divulgación sanitaria desarrolladas por las enfermeras puericultoras.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the health profile for children was characterised by high birth and death rates. In this context, child nutrition became one of the priority objectives of health intervention. The institution of the family, with the woman/mother as a point of reference, constituted the ideal scenario for health education initiatives carried out by child health visitors
