La aportación cultural de los festivales de cine: mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu (MICE) como caso de estudio

    Las funciones que desempeñan los festivales o muestras de cine son muy diversas desde el ámbito o entorno en que se desenvuelven. Los festivales no sólo son un espacio donde cineastas, directores profesionales o noveles (y demás conocedores del audiovisual) muestran y exhiben sus trabajos; además suponen una manifestación de índole cultural y social desde donde se generan importantes cometidos audiovisuales también de naturaleza educativa, instructiva y pedagógica.

    En este sentido, este artículo analiza la labor de estudio de las funciones culturales que desarrolla el festival valenciano MICE (Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu), con el objetivo de establecer cuáles son los valores y los aspectos beneficiosos para el alumnado de primaria y secundaria, en materia de pedagogía audiovisual, al participar en un proyecto extraescolar como es dicho festival. El caso de estudio propuesto, es un claro ejemplo de evento cultural que aboga por la difusión y promoción de la cultura audiovisual, el intercambio cultural a nivel internacional y estatal, así como la integración de los más pequeños al mundo audiovisual. El estudio ha querido que sean los profesores de los centros participantes los que califiquen y valoren los contenidos y aspectos clave como la alfabetización audiovisual, la participación social, el trabajo en equipo y una enseñanza del audiovisual democrática al alcance de todos, óptimos y necesarios para el aprendizaje y enseñanza del audiovisual en el alumnado.

    El carácter educativo del festival hace de él una propuesta merecedora de estudio dado su impacto en la diversidad, atendiendo a las necesidades comunicativas y audiovisuales de las futuras sociedades y teniendo cada vez mayor nivel internacional. Dicha investigación establece la base para desarrollar a posteriori otra serie de análisis e investigaciones centradas en la apreciación y evaluación del propio alumnado en materia de educación audiovisual.

    The functions fulfilled by the cinema festivals or exhibits are very diverse depending on the environment they are developed. The festivals are not just a space in which the filmmakers, professional or amateur directors (and other audio-visual-related people) show and exhibit their works; moreover, they entail a cultural and social manifestation in which they generate important audiovisual roles, also from an educational, pedagogical and instructive nature.

    Accordingly, this article analyses the labour of study of the cultural functions which are developed at the Valencia Festival MICE (Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu) “International Exhibit of Educational Cinema”, with the objective of establishing which are the values and the beneficial aspects for primary and secondary pupils, in terms of audio-visual pedagogy, when they participate in an after school project such as in this festival.

    The suggested case of study is a clear example of cultural event that advocates for the spread and promotions of the audio-visual culture, the cultural exchange at an international and national level, as well as the integration of the little ones to the audio-visual world. The study aims the teachers from the participating centres to be the ones who assess and evaluate the contents and key aspects, such as the audio-visual alphabetization, the social participation, the team work and a democratic audio-visual learning accessible to all. All these aspects are excellent and necessary for the learning and teaching process of the audio-visual within the students community.

    The educational nature of the festival makes of it a proposal worthy of the approach given its impact in diversity, regarding the communicative and audio-visual needs of the future societies, which are acquiring more and more international level. The research sets the grounds to develop a later analysis and investigations focused on the appreciation of the student community itself in terms of audio-visual education
