This paper highlights the conditions to be met by a school in order to become a state school Talking about state education means talking about social justice and equity in education and high-quality schools for all. Nowadays, it is necessary and urgent to reflect and make educational changes in our state schools regarding the role of teachers, the role of learners and the curriculum. In line with this thinking, we present the Roma Project as an alternative educational and research model that respects human rights and strives to improve state education.
