Una experiencia que fundamenta la responsabilidad de la fonoaudiología educativa en la Universidad

    El Centro de Escritura, Lectura y Oralidad Académica de la Universidad Santiago de Cali (CELOA) es un espacio representativo de la Facultad de Salud, específicamente del Programa de Fonoaudiología, que tiene como objetivo trabajar por el desarrollo de competencias comunicativas de lectura, escritura y oralidad propias del ambiente universitario. El CELOA es el resultado de una experiencia de cinco fases: 1. Identificación de las necesidades e implementación del servicio, 2.Formalización del escenario de práctica formativa, 3.Proyección y estructuración del servicio, 4. Movilización estudiantil y 5. Hacia la investigación, acción y evolución. La primera fase inicia en el 2010, con la identificación de los cursos de la malla curricular de fonoaudiología con mayor repitencia que generó 39 usuarios y, a mediados del 2014 se contaba con 104 estudiantes con abordaje constante. La caracterización de usuarios y las observaciones en aula mostraban un 60% de población en el rango de código lingüístico restringido, hallazgo que permitió enfocar las estrategias de abordaje del Centro. Para concluir se ha logrado: la formación de 30 profesionales en fonoaudiología con una nueva competencia laboral en el campo de la población universitaria, la experiencia de movilidad académica, el desarrollo de competencias de abordaje de Escritura, Lectura y Oralidad Académica por parte de los fonoaudiólogos en formación y una solución tangible a la problemática de las dificultades comunicativas de la población universitaria.

    The Reading, Writing, and Academic Speech Center at the Santiago de Cali University (CELOA), is it representative program within the Health faculty, specifically in the program of Speech Language Pathology. The Center’s objectives are: to develop competencies of communication in reading writing and academic speech specific to the university setting; and to increase the direct impact on the vulnerable target population of the University especially in the areas of communication and language, in order to obtain increased completion and success of academic programs.The CELOA is the result of the development of five experience- based phases: 1. Identification of the needs and implementation of the services offered; 2. Formalization of the formative practicum program for Speech Language Pathology students during their senior year; 3. Identifying future needs and services and re-structuring the current program to better serve those needs; 4. Increase student awareness involvement; and 5. Toward research, implementation, and improvement.The first phase began in 2010, with the study of the core curriculum courses of the Speech Language Pathology program and its students. This study yielded 39 students who had a greater failing rate of core courses and required interventions and follow-up. By mid- 2014 the program include 104 students with constant interventions and follow up. Through evaluations and classroom observations, it was established that 60% of the students receiving services, had a restriction in their linguistic code. These findings allowed the center to focus the intervention strategies offered for the targeted student population.Some conclusions to date include: Thirty Speech Language Pathology Professional graduates with new competencies in the area of university populations; the increase of student awareness and involvement; the development of competencies in order to provide services for writing, reading, and academic speech by speech language pathology students; and The creation of measurable targets and objectives for the University which focus on the difficulty and issues surrounding communication skills of its student population.
