PukllayWasi (Pukllay, game and Wasi, home in Quechua) is a toy library model promoted by a team of professors from the University of Valencia that has made it possible to design and implement, thanks to funding from the VI Call for Development Cooperation Projects, an educational space for children from 0 to 5 years old in the rural community of Mollebamba (Juan Espinoza Medrano, Antabamba, Apurimac, Peru).
PukllayWasi is a response to improve the integral education of the child population through play. The PukllayWasi toy library was inaugurated on August 24, 2022, and is the first toy library in the Apurimac Region.
The teaching team from the University of Valencia had the support of the Local Education Management Unit (UGEL) of Antabamba, the Mollebamba Social Fund and the Mollebamba Rural Community who will manage the toy library to keep it active. It is hoped that the PukllayWasi model can be replicated in other towns in the Peruvian Andes so that they can have this type of educational space for parents to play -and grow- with their children from zero to five years old.
