In Panama, there are certain disciplines that have been regulated and are even protected by law;
some of them have developed their own ethics regulations, which allow for self-regulation. This research sought to analyze the principles and values that govern the professions in Panama from the postulates of Schwartz’s motivational theory. A qualitative approach was used, retrospective and based on a documentary review of those codes, resolutions or other regulations that govern the professions in terms of ethics, documents found in the established and recognized databases in Panama, such as Infojuridica, vLex, Justia, repository of the Judicial Organ and Priscilla, were established as inclusion criteria, following the parameters established in the Prisma model, determining key words and Booleans. By way of results, it was possible to identify that 10 professions embrace 69 ethical principles and values, which are developed throughout the standard. In conclusion, the categorization of these professions according to Schwartz’s theory, allows inferring a formation towards the development of an independent thinking, forged by a self-containment of one’s own life, which allows the development of a sense of preservation and improvement of the welfare of those with whom one has contact, thus seeking the protection for the benefit of all people and nature.
