  • Resumen
    • This paper presents the results of the descriptive analysis and systematic review of two manuals on Literature in Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) published in 2013 and 2019, respectively: Curso de Literatura Española Moderna and Curso de Literatura AnayaELE. These specialized courses are aimed at students of a high intermediate and advanced level and pose, with different starting point, a diachronic itinerary, up to the present, through some periods of Spanish Literature, considered as the axis that allows the development of communicative, literary, cultural and digital competences of the students. This analysis has been carried out following this criteria: general objectives, structure and methodology adopted, with special emphasis on the typology of activities and materials, instructions and presentation of tasks and support resources provided by both proposals, whose strengths and weaknesses are highlighted. Previously, in order to contextualize some relevant aspects of the Literature in the teaching of second languages, we determine its scarce presence in the main methods and approaches, the current trends around the use of literary texts in teaching ELE and we establish the way in which the literary fact is addressed in the original edition of the Common European Framework for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR), in its Companion Volume and in the Plan Curricular del Instituto Cervantes (PCIC).
