El Centenario de la Oficina Internacional de la Educación: la aportación de Pedro Rosselló (1897-1970)

    En 1925 se creó la Oficina Internacional de Educación (BIE), celebrándose este año su centenario. Es sorprendente que un organismo internacional adquiera dicha dimensión temporal, comparable a la Cruz Roja y a la Organización Internacional del Trabajo. Este organismo ha sido referente durante todos estos cien años por el trabajo desarrollado al permitir comparar datos de los diferentes sistemas educativos nacionales. Desde 1929 hasta 1970 Pedro Rosselló unió su itinerario vital al desarrollo del BIE, su atalaya como secretario general le llevó a desarrollar tareas administrativas y diplomáticas para consolidar el proyecto y también labores académicas en el campo de la educación comparada, siendo una de sus figuras señeras. Para poder realizar este trabajo hemos contado con unas fuentes primarias privilegiadas, como es la documentación depositada en el Archivo del BIE que nos han facilitado información sobre los avatares vitales de Rosselló y de las actividades del propio BIE en el periodo que estudiamos, contextualizándolo en la Ginebra de la época.  Del análisis de toda esta documentación hemos obtenido resultados interesantes sobre el papel del BIE y sus actividades en el campo de la obtención de datos, exposiciones, conferencias internacionales y anuarios. Asimismo, en este contexto, emerge la figura de Pedro Rosselló que está involucrado en la edición de informes, anuarios, etc. Hemos resaltado, asimismo, en los trabajos de Pedro Rosselló dos campos fundamentales, la recuperación de Marc Antoine Jullien de París y la elaboración de la Teoría de las Corrientes Educativas. Por lo tanto, el BIE no puede entenderse sin la aportación fundamental de Pedro Rosselló

    The International Bureau of Education (IBE) was established in 1925 and celebrates its centenary this year. It is surprising that an international organisation should acquire such a temporal dimension, comparable to the Red Cross and the International Labour Organisation. This organisation has been a point of reference during all these hundred years for the work it has carried out by making it possible to compare data on the different national education systems. From 1929 to 1970, Pedro Rosselló linked his life's itinerary to the development of the BIE. His position as Secretary General led him to carry out administrative and diplomatic tasks to consolidate the project and academic work in the field of comparative education, being one of its leading figures. In order to carry out this work, we have had privileged primary sources, such as the documentation deposited in the BIE Archive, which has provided us with information on Rosselló's life and the activities of the BIE itself in the period we are studying, contextualising it in the Geneva of the time. From the analysis of all this documentation, we have obtained interesting results on the role of the BIE and its activities in the field of data collection, exhibitions, international conferences and yearbooks. In addition, in this context, the figure of Pedro Rosselló emerges, who is involved in the publication of reports, yearbooks, etc. We have also highlighted two fundamental fields in the work of Pedro Rosselló, the recovery of Marc Antoine Jullien from Paris and the elaboration of the Theory of Educational Trends. Therefore, the BIE cannot be understood without the fundamental contribution of Pedro Rosselló.
