  • Resumen
    • The purpose of this research is to investigate what are the family and emotional problems that arise in the family with the acquisition of a child with a disability as well as the ways that the family itself has decided to deal with them. The research was conducted among parents of children with disabilities. In particular, the research aims to investigate how parents deal with the issue of their children’s disability, the ways they have found to maintain family balance, the attitude of the remaining family members and the possible arrival of another child. The study was conducted in two phases. The first phase, which refers to quantitative research, and the second phase, which refers to qualitative research. The quantitative research’s sample is 120 parents of children with disabilities. The qualitative research’s sample is 10 parents of children with disabilities. The method of research for the quantitative study was a questionnaire and that of the qualitative study a semi-structured interview. After analyzing the data, we found that in a significant percentage of parents their relationship is affected very significantly. The coming of the child into the family had its effect on the parents’ relationship and on the relationship between all members of the family, as the tensions between them had increased.
