Multicultural education comes with a variety of challenges that require targeted policies, innovative techniques, and effective methods. This paper reviews the pros and cons of using technology as a teaching tool in multicultural classrooms. On the positive side, technology creates an inclusive environment whereby students from diverse backgrounds feel encouraged to participate. Interactive digital tools enhance engagement by a significant percentage and facilitate intercultural education through the promotion of collaboration, tolerance, and cultural understanding. Such tools enable students to connect with peers from other nations, broadening their perspectives and fostering synergy in classrooms. However, technology also poses challenges. Passive learning, where students merely receive information, hinders active engagement and limits the practical application of knowledge. This is particularly problematic in language learning and intercultural education, which require interaction and realistic application. Additionally, digital content often fails to address the diverse needs of multicultural classrooms. Most technologies are rigid and tailored for restricted populations, which forces teachers to modify or develop content to meet the unique linguistic and cultural needs of their students. Clearly, technology holds significant potential to enhance intercultural education but requires thoughtful implementation.
Teachers must continuously plan and innovate to ensure inclusivity and relevance. Once these challenges are overcome, technology can provide an equal and stimulating learning environment for all kinds of students.
