    The aim of this paper is to bring notes and analyzes of sources and historiography that contribute to the understanding of Baptist missionary expansion to Central Brazil from the year 1925. The article was built from the perspective of the Cultural History of Religions. It was concluded that the Baptists took advantage of the context of Protestant expansion throughout Latin America and made use of the discourse of the supposed need that the interior habitants had to receive the Christian message in order to justify the realization of their projects. It is believed that the issues raised here may contribute to the debates about the Protestant theme in Brazil, especially in the field of the Cultural History of Religions.

    O objetivo deste texto é trazer apontamentos e análises de fontes e historiografia que contribuam para a compreensão da expansão missionária batista ao Brasil Central a partir do ano de 1925. O artigo foi construído dentro da perspectiva da história cultural das religiões. Após a verificação das fontes e referências, concluiu-se que os batistas aproveitaram o contexto de expansão protestante por toda a América Latina, bem como fizeram uso do discurso da suposta necessidade que os habitantes do interior tinham de receber a mensagem cristã, a fim de justificar a concretização de seus projetos. Acredita-se que as questões aqui elecandas podem contribuir para os debates acerca da temática protestante no Brasil, sobretudo em se tratando do campo da história cultural das religiões.
