From the teachers' perspective, this study explored the meanings they attributed to school time and its use in schools with an extended schedule in Sinaloa, Mexico. The objective was to understand how they organized and interpreted the usefulness of school time in the framework of the Full-Time School Program. The research acquires a theoretical relevance by using the Theory of Social Representations to explain teachers' perceptions, as well as a practical value for the contribution on the management of school time. An exploratory qualitative approach was used with semi-structured interviews as the main technique, applied to a sample of seven teachers from an elementary school in the municipality of Culiacán, in a lower middle-class urban context. The data collected were systematized into three themes, namely, information, representation and attitude, being analyzed by means of interpretative repertoires. The results were organized into two categories: a) time as an opportunity for improvement and b) time as a source of tensions. In conclusion, the findings showed that, although teachers perceive benefits in the extended day, they also face challenges due to the administrative and organizational rigidity of the program.
