This research aims to examine the British and German propaganda methods directed at the Arab region through the media discourse of the BBC and DW channels in their Arabic versions. It concentrates on how these channels covered the security events and geopolitical changes evolving in the region, alongside the protests that have erupted in several countries suffering from dictatorial regimes, such as Algeria and Sudan. It also considers the armed battles and conflicts in Syria and Yemen, the poor security situation in Iraq and Turkish interventions in Syria and northern Iraq, where the researcher seeks to reveal the methods of propaganda used in depicting events and crises in the region through content and visual image, as well as knowledge of propaganda methods—aiming to improve the image of Britain and Germany among the peoples of the region. The study falls under descriptive studies in terms of type, as it adopts the survey method, which is the most suitable approach for examining the problem at hand and describing its components. The research procedures required the use of content analysis method to collect, organize, and analyze the data, allowing the researcher to identify the propaganda methods employed by the BBC and DW in their Arabic versions. The two Arabic-speaking channels, BBC and DW, form the research community, which is represented through the BBC program, This Evening World, and the DW program, The Evening. The researcher did not reply on a sample; instead, he adopted a comprehensive survey of all episodes within the program cycle. This approach ensured more generalizable results and prevented the omission of any communicative material that contains important contents within a time frame that extends from 1-1-2019 to 31-5- 2019. The study concluded with a set of results that can be summarized as follows: BBC 1- Focusing the propaganda content in The World This Evening through the method of Carrot reflects the British endeavor to encourage the Arab peoples to adopt elections as a means to attain power and to end the phenomenon of dictatorial regimes in some Arab countries. 2- Employing the method of revealing the opponent's intentions in the program The World This Evening to show the connection, as the most prominent axes were related to showing Russian intentions in the Arab world, especially in Syria, and control over the Syrian political decision. 3- Using fear in the program to alert the world, as well as the Arab and Gulf States, to the dangers of a potential military confrontation between the United States and Iran, and to the consequences that such a conflict could have on global security and stability. 4- Employing the method of amplification and exaggeration in a program called The World This Evening to give exaggerated importance and role to the American role in the Arab world in addition to the Russian, Turkish and Iranian presence in countries experiencing conflicts and security and political crises. 5- Revealing the propaganda used through the program which focused on images that warn of a danger awaited by the Arab region due to the proliferation of weapons by armed groups outside the control of the state. 6- Highlighting the images that evoke the emotional aspects of the viewer to win their feelings and sympathy as well as pictures showing the targeting of civilian sites and infrastructure. DW 1- Focusing the propaganda content on the program The Evening in the method of frightening, as shown through the concern of Arab and Gulf countries about the possibility of an upcoming military clash between the United States of America and Iran. This fear stems from American worries about the expanding Iranian influence in several Arab countries. 2- Employing the method of amplification and exaggeration in a program called The Evening. For example, Events and conflicts in the Arab world enabled the growing Iranian role in Arab countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen after 2003, the year that witnessed the US occupation of Iraq. 3- Focusing on the method of distortion in the propaganda contents included in the program, for example, as mentioned in one of the episodes of the program, the distortion of the Sudanese regime that has been on the throne for decades and the encouragement of protest movements for the aspirations of the Sudanese people who want to obtain freedom. 4- Focusing the propaganda content on the program The Evening in the method of emotional grooming. Most of the airstrikes and bombings launched by the Arab coalition countries led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia did not target the military headquarters of the Houthi supporters’ movements. Instead, they targeted civilian headquarters, which resulted in many civilian casualties and deaths, and some operations targeted children playing football in the streets. 5- Propaganda in the program focused on images accompanied by employed texts, such as Algerian female demonstrators carrying a banner that reads "Everyone goes away," referring to the dictatorial regimes. 6- Images were related to religion and beliefs, such as Iranian religious images and slogans raised on Iraqi lands.
