Las caídas se han convertido en un problema económico y social de primer orden para la población mundial, por las consec,:uencias que generan desde el punto de vista de la salud y por el gasto que supone la atención médica y social. La Organización Mundial de la Salud, en su nota descriptiva 344 de enero de 2018, señala las caídas como la segunda causa mundial de muertes asociadas a las lesionesno intencionales. Esta investigación se ha realizado como una sucesión de implementaciones,concretadas en seis publicacione,s aplicando dos programas sobre caídas, basados en la adaptación de elementos técnicos del Judo tradicional, a las características y necesidades específicas de las poblaciones de riesgo (niños y adultos-mayores). Así pues, el objetivo de esta investigación es contribuir al aumento de la seguridad de las poblaciones diana, mediante la reducción de los riesgos asociados a las consecuencias y secuelas producidas por las caídas.
