The International Workshop on Practical Applications of Agents and Multiagent Systems, IWPAAMS, has been held in Valladolid (Spain), in its second edition.
Starting in 2002 in Salamanca, the focus of the symposium was broadened to include the area of the development of Internet, Security, Interfaces and Software Engineering due to its increasing relevance and its inter-relationship with the area of agents systems.
The Il International Workshop on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-agent Systems (IWPAMS'2003) took place in october 2003. This workshop intend to bring together researchers and developers from industry and academic world to report on the latest scientific and technical advances, discuss and debate the major issues, and showcase the latest Internet based systems, paying especial attention to those that use agent based technology.
IWPAAMS'2003 covers research in all aspects of Agents and Multiagents Sys-tems, including in this edition a call for contributions in: Internet, Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management, Information Retrieval Systems, Database Systems, E-commerce, Diagnosys and Supervision Systems, Learning, Data Min-ing, Requirement Engineering, Multi-modal Interfaces, Intelligent Interfaces and Neural Networks.
A total amount of 23 long paper contributions were reviewed and selected for publishing. They were organized in six sessions: Web and Information Retrieval, MAS Architecture and Fundamentals, MAS Implementations, Pattern Recognition (I and II) and Multiagent Systems (general).
