FORTMED 2015 es el primer Congreso Internacional sobre Fortificaciones de la Edad Moderna en la costa Oeste del Mediterráneo. El congreso tendrá lugar los días 15, 16 y 17 de octubre de 2015, en la Ciudad Politécnica de la Innovación, de la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). El congreso tiene como objetivo principal el intercambio de conocimientos y la puesta en común para el mejor conocimiento, valorización, gestión y explotación de la cultura y del patrimonio que se desarrolló en la costa mediterránea en la Edad Moderna, teniendo presente la difusión de todos estos resultados. El congreso tiene un carácter interdisciplinar, en donde participarán arquitectos, ingenieros, arqueólogos, historiadores, geógrafos, cartógrafos, gestores del patrimonio, expertos de turismo, expertos en la restauración-conservación y difusión del patrimonio. La idea es aportar visiones más integradoras, más reales, más actuales, que nos lleven al nivel donde se deben encontrar las investigaciones de esta materia, en el siglo XXI. La temática está centrada en las fortificaciones del Mediterráneo occidental (España, Francia, Italia, Malta, Túnez, Argelia y Marruecos) en los siglos XV al XVIII, aunque no quedan excluidos el resto de países mediterráneos ni otras fortificaciones de esta época.

Proceedings of the International Conference on Modern Age Fortifications of the Western Mediterranean Coast, FORTMED 2015. València, 15, 16, y 17 de octubre de 2015.

FORTMED 2015 is the first International Conference on Modern Age Fortifications of the Western Mediterranean coast. The conference will take place on October 15th, 16th and 17th 2015, at the Ciudad Politécnica de la Innovación, of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

The conference’s main objective is the exchange of knowledge and sharing for the better understanding, assessment, management and exploitation of culture and heritage that developed on the Mediterranean coast in the modern age, taking into account the wide distribution of these results.

The Conference has an interdisciplinary aim where architects, engineers, archaeologists, historians, geographers, cartographers, heritage managers, tourism experts, experts in restoration-conservation and promotion of heritage will participate. The idea is to provide a more inclusive, more real and more up to date views, leading us to the point where we could find the investigations of this matter, in the twenty-first century.

The theme is centered on the fortifications of the western Mediterranean (Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco) in the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries, although it does not exclude other Mediterranean countries and other fortifications from this era.
