Resumen de From the case methodology to educational proposals from the students

Inge Axpe Saez, José María Madariaga Orbea, Ana Rosa Arribillaga Iriarte, Eider Goñi Palacios

  • The new Degrees established within the EHEA framework place the student at the core of university teaching and establish tighter bonds between theory and practice in order to achieve the envisaged competences. Within this context, the academics of the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology at the UPV/EHU who have developed this project, have implemented a new way of dealing with the competence of identification and resolution of educational situations in the field of Educational Psychology within the Teacher Train- ing Degree. The case methodology was used by the students to study a real educational situation in which they could identify the essential aspects from which intervention proposals could be made, taking into consideration their own education experiences. The results obtained show that students experienced a more active learning and felt they had more of a leading role as they built their own approach to the case study and were able to put forward specific proposals. In spite of the difficulties encountered in differentiating the stages of the process and in linking episodes from the students’ own biographies with the study, this project has made a breakthrough in achieving with relative success that students elaborate a personal proposal for the resolution of one of the elements identified in the case.

This type of work has been incorporated in the teaching of the subject by the lec- turers involved in this experience, and other lecturers of the same subject are in the process of incorporating it.
