Uma investigação sobre hábitos de leitura e escrita e funções executivas em estudantes concluintes do ensino médio

    This study aims to investigate the reading and writing habits of graduating students from technical courses integrated with high school, relating these habits to neuropsychological and sociodemographic data. Based on this objective, the research explores the relationship between reading, writing, and working memory, highlighting the influence of executive functions in this context. The study includes 41 graduating students from the technical course of two campuses of a federal institution in RS. For the research, profile, reading and writing habits, socioeconomic, and sociodemographic questionnaires were applied, as well as the digit span and word span subtests. Data analysis showed a significant correlation between performance in the Digit Backwards test and writing habits; Digit Backwards and reading and writing habits; and also, a significant correlation between Word Span and writing habits. The results emphasize the importance of frequent reading and writing on working memory and highlight the need for educational strategies that promote both reading and writing, essential skills for the student's academic and cognitive performance.

    O presente estudo tem por objetivo investigar os hábitos de leitura e escrita de estudantes concluintes de cursos técnicos integrados ao Ensino Médio, relacionando esses hábitos com dados neuropsicológicos e sociodemográficos. A partir desse objetivo, a pesquisa explora a relação entre leitura, escrita e memória de trabalho, destacando a influência das funções executivas nesse contexto. Fazem parte do estudo 41 estudantes concluintes do curso técnico de dois campi de uma instituição federal do Rio Grande do Sul (RS). Para a pesquisa, foram aplicados questionários de perfil, de hábitos de leitura e escrita, socioeconômico e sociodemográfico, além do subteste de memória de dígitos e de span de palavras. A análise dos dados mostrou uma correlação significativa entre o desempenho no teste Digit Backwards e os hábitos de escrita, Digit Backwards e hábitos de leitura e de escrita; também houve correlação significativa entre word span e hábitos de escrita. Os resultados ressaltam os impactos da frequência na leitura e na escrita na memória de trabalho e evidenciam a necessidade de estratégias educacionais que promovam tanto a leitura quanto a escrita — habilidades essenciais para o desempenho acadêmico e cognitivo do estudante.
