This article assesses the role and effectiveness of the African Union (AU) in protecting the human rights of refugees and internally displaced persons in Africa's conflict zones. Although the AU is a key regional player committed to conflict prevention andhuman rights protection, its effectiveness is often called into question. Challenges include the development of preventive mechanisms and effective intervention during conflicts. This study aims to deepen understanding of the legal and policy frameworks put in place by the organization, and to assess the effectiveness of its interventions in armed conflicts. The methodology adopted is qualitative, based on analysis of documents including reports, international legal texts and academic publications.
