  En este artículo se hace un breve recorrido por el interés del Abad de Cluny, Pedro el Venereble, en obtener una traducción latina del Corán árabe, que consiguió gracias a la concurrencia del traductor Robert de Ketton. Esa traducción permitió al Abad de Cluny emprender la refutación polémica del Alchoran de Muhammad, que llevó a cabo a través de su obra Liber contra sectam siue haeresim Sarracenorum. Asimismo, las informaciones que proporciona Ketton en el paratexto a su traducción, Prefatio Roberti translatoris ad Dominum Petrum Abbatem Cluniacensem in libro Legis Sarracenorum, permiten una aproximación a su tarea de traducción y a la empresa encomendada por el Abad.

  This article gives a brief account of the interest of the Abbot of Cluny, Peter the Venerable, in obtaining a Latin translation of the Arabic Koran, which he obtained thanks to the concurrence of the translator Robert de Ketton. This translation allowed the Abbot of Cluny to undertake the polemical refutation of Muhammad's Alchoran, which he carried out through his work Liber contra sectam siue haeresim Sarracenorum. Likewise, the information provided by Ketton in the paratext to his translation, Prefatio Roberti translatoris ad Dominum Petrum Abbatem Cluniacensem in libro Legis Sarracenorum, allows an approach to his translation task and to the enterprise entrusted to him by the Abbot.
