Resumen de El perfil creativo y su relación con los procesos cognitivos creativos: un estudio exploratorio en la educación secundaria

Ruth Osca Cañamas, Joan Josep Solaz Portolés, Yolanda Echegoyen Sanz

  • Research on creative styles has much to offer educators and advocates of creativity education. The goals of this research focused on the determination of the creative styles of secondary school students, the influence that grade level and gender have on them and the analysis of the impact they have on creative cognitive processes. A quantitative ex post facto cross-sectional research was conducted.

A total of 138 students (79 girls and 59 boys) from three different grades of Spanish secondary education (9th, 10th, and 11th grades, between 14 and 17 years old) participated in this study. The Basadur Creative Problem-Solving Profile test and the Miller Cognitive Processes Associated with Creativity questionnaire were administered to participants. Scores obtained and statistical analyses carried out by means of chi-square and Kruskal-Wallis H-tests would lead to the following conclusions: 1) there are two clear majority creative styles, optimizer and implementer; 2) neither grade level nor gender generate significant differences in the distribution of creative styles; and 3) the creative style of students does not result in significant differences in the utilization of most cognitive processes associated with creativity
