    • : Phraseology has become a productive field of study within linguistic research. Nowadays, phraseology is not limited to fixed expressions in inventories, but has expanded to encompass a wide range of recurring language patterns and combinations. Despite this evolution, in the field of Didactics, many authors still lament the lack of solid guidelines and criteria for its treatment in the classroom. It is an essential component of language that is too often perceived as dispensable and that, in the best of cases, is not studied until the higher levels of language proficiency (C1 and C2). Our paper aims to assess the phraseological competence of secondary school students through a survey-based study and, more specifically, to assess whether there is an improvement or evolution for each educational stage. We will examine textbooks to compile a corpus of phraseological units, which will allow us to create two surveys (one for ESO stage, the other for Batxillerat stage). We obtained responses from 170 students from the IES La Foia d’Elx and conducted a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the materials
